My first and lasting memory of Scott: I remember the first recording Becca and I ever did together. Our first songs were the debut signals to pass from microphones to tape at the now famous Electric Canyon studios near beautiful Butte Creek. Scott joined us, and we had a tranquil picnic during the session. It was perfect: Great weather, good friends, fun music. So many musicians have bad first experiences in the recording studio and fear it from then on. Scott's presence and support helped make Becca's first recording with me a pleasurable and confidence building experience. Best of all: Scott took me aside and told me he knew his daughter was in good hands ... that he could trust me to be her friend and watch over her while she was in Chico. Scott: I'll keep watching over her ... though, by now you know she's a strong, independent woman BECAUSE she had good parents. After that session, Scott came to hear us play live music whenever he could. Becca always sang her best when she knew her daddy was in the audience. Scott: I know you're up there, watching over her now. You can smile, knowing that every time Becca goes into the recording studio again, she'll embrace the environment as her "friend." Much of that self confidence will come from that first positive experience ... knowing her dad was there supporting her and loving her. Peter Berkow
